Why We Built Road Runner Routing - A Fully-Native Routing App for Salesforce

The Inspiration Behind Road Runner

While working with provider liaison teams to build our provider relationship management app, Liaison Pro, the Zaghop team saw that users loved the ability to prioritize where to spend their time. And that was all well and good - until it became time to actually plan their days. In this space, there is typically lots of in-person time with providers to keep the relationship strong. But to plan their days, liaisons had no tool to help them efficiently plan their visits.

The tools out there were either too complicated or too simple. This made us think. Why not make something that's both easy and powerful? That's how Road Runner came to be. It makes planning routes a breeze, letting sales teams focus on what they do best.

Design Philosophy

Of course, a routing tool is not a new idea. So why did we think that another option was needed?

First, many existing options are bloated with unnecessary features and complexity. And all of the rarely used features bloated not only the application but also the price. We studied how a real user, in the real world, would ideally use a routing tool, and designed around that. The result is an incredibly lightweight, simple application that installs and works in minutes.

Second, we focus on applications for Salesforce, and we wanted to create a tool that would be fully-native and built specifically to work well for Salesforce users. That helps with the first point too, as that is a key reason it is so easy to start using.

Lastly, we found that even with a routing tool, users just want to put something in Google Maps and go. With Road Runner, when a route is created and the user is ready to go, the route will open automatically in Google Maps on the user’s device. This makes Road Runner follow the natural way users were already working, instead of trying to change how they work with something unfamiliar.

At Zaghop, we think the best tools do their job well without making things complicated. That's the idea behind Road Runner. We wanted it to be easy for anyone to use but still do everything a sales team needs. It fits right into Salesforce, making things efficient and straightforward without needing a bunch of extra steps.

To focus on high utilization, routes open automatically in Google Maps for the user, instead of a separate mapping application.

Key Features of Road Runner

While keeping it lightweight, we wanted to make sure we did the core things well. Those things were:

  • Automatic Route Optimization: AI-powered routing figures out the best routes all by itself, saving time and hassle.
  • Easy planning: Accounts or contacts are added to routes in one click, and multiple routes can be planned at the same time
  • Smart Integration: Routes go to google maps on the user’s device smoothly in just a click

With Road Runner, Zaghop is bringing forward a new idea of how routes can be planned in Salesforce. Road Runner is built to be the simple, lightweight, easier to use option. We're inviting everyone to try Road Runner and experience the change firsthand. Welcome to a new era of sales routing with Road Runner.
